Finally actually got around to putting oil to canvas this week! Albeit, only one night's worth so it looks pretty much like a cartoon zombie in a shitty field of grass right now, even though it's eventually going to be a rich Asian woman smoking a cigarette in a bathroom:



I sketched out some things, and transferred it to the canvas with bistre and pink conté, and filled my palette and mixed some black to shut up snowunmasked who was giving me hell for not using black on my palette; she eventually switched to giving me hell for using burnt sienna instead of burnt umber, which was easier to deal with:



And then underpainted a bit by layering in a fuckton of turpenoid-diluted washes that I worked wet-in-wet and dry-in-wet (and quickly proceeded to get paint on everything I love; evidently I'm not as clean as I used to be, Rhyn-Art):



And then added some dry alizarin crimson for where shadows are headed in the future, which really brought out the zombie awesomeness that I really can't wait to paint over so I'm not afraid to go in my office at night anymore:

For today's feature I leaned like always on Darkroom and the other galleries I live in, but also included more Animals, Plants and Nature photos than usual. The APN galleries are ones I often don't like to browse, because a lot of newcomers to photography begin in that niche so there are more absolute beginner-level photos there versus let's say, emotive portraiture or traditional darkroom. This week, though, I checked a subcategory that I honestly don't think I've browsed before - Birds. Lots of good stuff in there, and a fairly high quality ratio too. So without further ado:
