So yesterday I managed to glitch the group creation process and a new group I formed (reusing an old name) was created with regular user and group profile tabs. Long story it got fixed quicklyish, but it delayed me posting a soft-launch journal about it. So here goes nothing:



Yep. Pompousness. Unappealing name, right? Well, the fact is - on deviantART sometimes if you're working at a pro level you feel a bit out of place. Do you really want critique on the piece you've published in The New Yorker or the painting you sold in a gallery show to finance your new Maserati? You don't, right? Because sometimes a social network can be a place to showcase your stuff, not just to learn. Thing is? When you say that, you likely will get called pompous.

This group is the spot for you to feel welcome to share the works you've put out into the real world, whether or not you want feedback on them. It's a place for us all to remind ourselves that yes, in fact, sometimes deviantART users do make art that gets peer-approved; and yes, in fact, some of us are rapidly approaching - or already attained - veteran status offline. Details about the level of real-world success required to send a piece to the group are available in our General Group Information article, and we will stringently fact-check so have fun making work for us, okay? Submit to us, then pat yourself on the back and rest on your laurels for a bit because you earned it.

We're also collecting pro-specific resources in the group's Favourites, and will be doing some regular interviews with artists who've made names for themselves offline. Membership is open and auto-approved so join if you want a voice. (And if you want to help administer the group, drop me a line. The more the merrier. Just have some shred of qualification and at least one work that'll fit in the gallery or favs.)

Embrace your pretentiousness. It's how you'll make money in life. Wear the word "pompous" like a badge. Join the intifada.
