Literary News

I don't think I got to make a formal announcement welcoming them to the hellmouth yet, but about a week and a half ago two great friends of mine - one old, one new - got bumped up to Literature Community Volunteers. If you don't watch them yet check out TheMaidenInBlack and LiliWrites, who join HugQueen and SingingFlames as the lordly assfaces of CRLiterature who have to deal with me and Becca and Emily (mainly Emily let's be real) all the time when we get harebrained schemes or get in knife fights. And they came on at a great time because we have all sorts of crazy shit in the works at CRLit right now!

Not quite this crazy.

Firstly, we're in the process of splintering Book Club into its own group - so news on that should be coming soon, hopefully! We also have Flash Fiction Competition - First Round! in progress courtesy of ObsydianDreamer and LionesseRampantJune 15 Book Club: Lois Duncan's DOWN A DARK HALL with PinkyMcCoversongThe Tearoom Debates I: Inspiration v. Infringement courtesy of Mrs-Durden's ideas and my willingness to rip them off shamelessly, and a Daily Deviation Suggestion Drive from the CVs. In the next few months we'll be hosting a poetry editing contest and another projecteducate week so be sure to keep your eyes on the group at all times this summer. And give some love to raspil, who is not part of CRlit but is the rectum of the lit community, because she made a Publication Announcement: June 1, 2016 for her ScreamPrompts anthology!

And Other News

Oh, right, JenFruzz is a CV now too - and was just this morning whining to me about how she needs more DD suggestions, so get on it. She's looking over the Photography > Animals, Plants and Nature gallery, which is absolutely gigantic and scary, so it's easy for you to find things to send her but much harder for her to try and dig through it. And bonus points if you ship it with a write-up, because she is not for English good very.

This is basically what Jen will write for DD suggestions if you leave her to her own devices.

I also have some friends who are taking commissions, so check them out - and don't balk at their prices because art costs money you ingrates. ~ Commissions ~ [OPEN] from quila111Commission/Point Commission Information from DarkAlchemistNinja, and IN A RARE TREAT you can make the site's Policy Report Queen draw you nonpornographic but nonetheless attractive things - y2jenn has opened Commission time again! If you're not familiar with her work she's pretty awesome:

And totally draws Wonder Woman and Superman all the time, don't listen to her lies and heresy.

I have a zombie care bear print of hers in my bathroom. It stares ominously at me when I poop. I poop faster because of it. Ergo, her art is both pretty and useful.

This week one of the unsung heroes of DeviantArt staff stopped working for the company, and she's one you've probably never heard of: grieves05, Bethany, was the lady who for the last five or six years was the lord and master of all the things onsite that let you make money as the head of the retail department. Go put some love on her page in the event she comes around again some day, especially if you've ever sold a print, premium content, or commission onsite. Not every staff who leaves is someone you've interacted with on the front-end but that doesn't mean they didn't help shape your experience here an insane amount. That's today's DeviantArt lesson.

Her job was literally making sure we could all do this with minimal shame involved.

On a personal note, I got an odd visit today from the directorate of the local art gallery - a nonprofit that is financed by the government and has some amazing shows - and was approached about both becoming a member, and a director. Evidently they need a marketing guy and also want someone who could get music going on at their openings. I said "I'll consider it" but pretty sure I mouthed the word "YESSSSSS" while saying that, so. Yeah. That's probably a thing that'll happen soon. I haven't shown work at this gallery yet and they want physical prints to bring their membership committee for rubberstamping so I guess I'll have to go into the darkroom sometime soon and do that. At least I don't have to put on my HR hat because lately like 75-80% of my life is people saying the following to me:

And for once I'm neither complaining this nor being complained about because of this.

Now onto some art!
